Erica and Mike were married last month in the historic El Presidio chapel, an incredibly beautiful landmark in Santa Barbara that I was so excited to finally shoot in.  I hadn’t seen them since their engagement session last May, but walking into the getting ready room and seeing them again was like seeing old friends.  They have that kind energy that just draws you in and makes you happy.  Erica and Mike are two of the sweetest most caring people I’ve ever met.  Their love for each other is so special and down right adorable. It was such an honor to get to photograph their big day. This wedding was filled with firsts for me: First time I’ve done a Catholic ceremony, first time I’ve had to shoot both the guys and girls getting ready because my second shooters car broke down, and first time I’ve had a reception hit with a blackout.  Every wedding day has it’s ups and downs and even the best planned weddings can have problems, but it’s how everyone, especially the bride and groom deal with it that can define the day.  I couldn’t believe how well this wonderful couple and all their guests just went with the flow and made the  best of a bad situation.  Even though the majority of their reception was basically in the dark they made it an epic party. It was such a special day, and I am so excited for the wonderful future these two have ahead of them.
